FAMILY-FRIENDLY & SPECIAL EVENTS

Friday, Mar. 1, 4:30-8 pm
Dollar Night!
Just one (1) dollar per person over the age of 1 makes the first Friday night each month is affordable for all due to the generosity of Electric Boat Employees Community Services Association.
• $1/person.

Sunday, Mar. 10, 3 pm
Family Workshop: Kite Making CANCELLED
Nothing to do on a winter Sunday afternoon? Bring the family to the Museum to learn about making kites!

Sunday, Mar. 24, 3 pm
Family Workshop: Maple Sugaring
NOTE: Rescheduled from Feb. 10th Family Workshop. Bring the family to the Museum to learn about maple sugar! YUM!

Smart Cart in the Museum
From creatures to mad science, spend 15 minutes with a Museum educator to learn something interesting!

Sensory-Friendly Time
A quiet time in an accessible environment for self-guided fun at the Museum is enhanced with the help of specialists experienced in autism. Special guest: the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center.

PROGRAMS

Registration Policy: All classes must be paid-in-full at the time of registration. If patrons need to withdraw from class after that time, they are issued a Museum credit. Museum credit can be used toward future classes, Museum membership, or in the Museum Store. Classes need a minimum of five (5) enrolled children to run. Refunds are only given in the event a class is cancelled due to low enrollment.

TODDLER PLAYGROUPS: FIRST FRIENDS or TOGETHER TIME
Toddler playgroups are informal opportunities for toddlers to be part of a group. Children explore a different theme each week filled with new and different materials, tactile experiences, and stories/songs. Snack is included.
• Best for ages 18-36 months
• 45 minute classes
• 5 week series
• Fee/series : $45 member, $75 nonmember (includes admission for child)

FIRST FRIENDS: Toddler attends alone
This class is best for children ages 24 to 36 months.

TOGETHER TIME: Toddler with caregiver
A class for young children and their caregiver. The chance to meet new faces, with the comfort of a caregiver.

PRESCHOOLERS: ABCs & 123s
Give your child the tools for success. This literacy-based class introduces preschoolers to fantastic literature and incorporates beginning letters/numbers through tactile experiences, movement/song, games, and crafts.
• 5 week series: Wednesdays, Feb. 27 - Mar. 27
• Best for 3-5 year olds
• 60 minutes classes
• Fee/series: $45 members, $75 nonmember (includes admission for child).

PRESCHOOL SCIENCE
Children explore scientific concepts through inquiry, hand-on activities, and literature. Offered in sessions to allow little ones to substantially explore a topic. Thursdays, 1:30 pm or Wednesdays, 10 am.

Thursdays, Feb. 28 - Mar. 28, 1:30 pm
PRESCHOOL SCIENCE: Earth Science: Rock On!
Does your preschooler collect rocks everywhere he/she goes? Children identify different types of rocks, learn how rock is made, go on a rock hunt, and even break open their own geode to see what’s inside.

Fridays, Mar. 1 - Apr. 5, 10 am (No class Mar. 29)
PRESCHOOL SCIENCE: Animals
Take a look at farm animals, pets, rainforest animals, sea creatures, and zoo animals. Learn about different animals each week. Be on the lookout for some live special guests!

I Wonder . . . SCIENCE for HOMESCHOOLERS
Let your child bring their wonderings to a cooperative class. Our experienced educator is certified K-6 in CT and ready to listen and work with you to provide authentic experiences for your homeschooler. Join us for 5 weeks of 60-minute, fun-filled programs with science, stories, and art.
• Tuesdays, 1:30 pm
• Series 1 dates: Jan. 15 - Feb. 12 (Parent and child planning meeting Jan. 8 - no fee to attend)
• Series 2 dates: Feb. 26 - Mar. 26
• 60 minute classes
• Best for ages 5 - 8

Regular Hours:
Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30 - 4:30.
Sundays, Noon-4:30.

The Museum is CLOSED:
• Mondays from Labor Day through end of school year (except for school holidays and vacations).
• July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, and Memorial Day.
